The Empire
The empire will end soon
But it’s ok
I’m a poet
I am familiar with change
The grand reconstruction of it all.
In fact I like
Because I’m a poet
Because I get to note it all down
Or else no one else will.
We’re a dying breed
No fame can be achieved
And that is sad
But it’s ok
I’m a poet
I’m used to it.
So when the empire falls
And explodes
Into golden dust and shimmering pieces of crystal
I will not be sad
I will sit and watch.
And from where I am
I see a small group pick up pen and paper
And I see them try
And I see them succeed.
It’s time for me to leave
And start my empire elsewhere.
Review Request (Intensity):
I want the raw truth, feel free to knock me on my back
Review Request (Direction):
What did you think of my title?
What did you think of the rhythm or pattern or pacing?
How does this theme appeal to you?
Last few words:
For my poetry club. I graduated but they still have a bit to go. And I hope they make it their own.

All empires crumble into the dust of ages.
Cities come and go, are built, then turn to dust.
Then something survives, is it going to be you?
Are you a plato or is he only there because of us?
You can shout Eureka as many times as you wish
The level of the water that covers you
Will remain the same,
Did we drown in our celebration.
Was it some ancient poet that wrote of this?
Or is it held within our memories thoughts?
We even question our own demise.
Has it then already happened?
Go well, a good train of thoughts that could be expanded, I await the shimmering crystals as they fall in a new dawns light,
Yours Ian.T
PS:- I am just thought writing this evening, can't be bothered with structured thoughts Lol

The Arrogance Of A Poet
Omniscient point of view," but it's ok I'm a poet".
Interesting.
