Wanted: workshop leaders!

The core of the new Neopoet is the workshop --

We're looking for poets who will help coordinate workshops. Workshop leaders organize a structure around central topic / element, select poets who apply to join, and make sure the workshop runs smoothly. We expect each member who joins a workshop will contribute substantially -- a workshop leader should only help organize discussion, rather than providing it him or her self.

We encourage you to join us as a workshop leader. Since leaders set the syllabus, the commitment for each workshop series can be as long as you like (a month or more), or just for a single day.

We'd love for you to be a part of our inaugural group of workshop leaders:

I would be happy to start a workshop that that might turn out to be a permanet thing. It would be a partner to Chat on the Darkside. I could use chat on the Darkside to reach out to the people who would apply to the workshop, and Darkside chat could be a great way to judge the work and ability of said people. I would like to learn more about how to start this project. Maybe I could have a partner to work with? BTW, thank you for all the help you have given me in getting back to Neo. I know that you have worked tirelessly and with great effort to bring back Neo. and I for one, am immensely grateful for the oppourtunity to rejoin the best poetry site, bar none on the web!

the rules you set out there are too strict.

I think people could come up with some interesting workshops without adhering to these guidelines. I would like to run one, of indefinite duration on "how to read poetry". I know it sounds stupid, we all here read poetry, but there are some pointers I could possibly give help with about metaphor, allegory, even the way alliteration and other devices can contribute to meaning.

Would you consider editing

to make it a tad less didactic?

A new workshop on the most important element of poetry-

And so the specifications may have changed.

My concern is that many of the ideas being floated were either unsustainable or would degenerate into the old version of the Stream where everyone would say pretty things until they got bored.

Even your workshop on how to read poetry would benefit from structure. If it's a week long with goals, folks are more likely to participate. You can also re-run it, having previous attendees take over aspects of it until they too can run a workshop with a small group of people who all are getting a level of feedback and communication that makes them feel their time is being respected.

But that's all just my opinion based around the fact that I am basically very lazy and am always trying to define when my chores are done.

what does the workshop entail. I'd like to help, but I'm not sure. I need specifics. I would be glad to help.
