AT SIX SCORE AND FOUR
Through these years I've become weary
as ever upward wound my trail
until at last my sight and eyes are bleary
and my tiring muscles fail.
But I have this final hill to top
so I slowly stumble on
knowing that I dare not stop
striving toward the place I'm drawn.
I know that before very long
my feet will get me to the summit,
to that place where my soul belongs.
I can almost now envision it.
For there laid out below my sight
a gentle valley awaits me
with passed on old friends smiling bright
for they have been awaiting me.

A little to warm and fuzzy
A little too warm and fuzzy for an old hard ass like me
but I'm glad that there are a lot more like you in this world
than there are like me
I, and I'm sure other cold hearted sons of bitches, actually admire your steadfast devotion to your principles and beliefs and way of being; the tranquility of home, hearth, and marriage that you portray in your poems.
I would be proud to have you as neighbor and friend

Hi Al
I'm a bit of hard ass at heart but prefer to not let it show in real life or my poetry lol. I appreciate you dropping by and there are some homes for sale nearby should you decide to move down south......stan

a poem beautiful and a bit
a poem beautiful and a bit melancholy. the effort of life, and the hopeful rest at the end. it is an inspiration to see you still climbing, with your words and otherwise, I'm sure.
